Process
This project began by creating a composite list of historic landscapes from throughout the Allen County region into one single easily accessible excel spreadsheet. A variety of sources were used to create the composite list of landscapes for inclusion: landscapes included in the 1995 DHPA Historic Landscape Survey, Indiana Landscapes listed on the National Register of Historic Places, Landscapes for which Cultural Landscape Reports were available, Heritage Landscapes as cited by Ft. Wayne Parks, Research files of project investigators, and other identified sources of information. The list generated consists of ninety-two (92) individual historic landscapes located throughout Allen County:

The information for Allen County resides within a developing listing for a statewide database. Because of the support from Friends of Allen County Parks, Allen County has the most extensively developed inventory of county-wide resources. The statewide inventory was supported by Indiana Landmarks, Inc., through the Indiana Landmarks Historic Landscape Committee.
This information will allow the resources to be publicly searchable, and will allow a common platform for the information to be expanded, updated, and refined as other historic landscapes are discovered or as the backlog of historic landscape documentation can be added to the database.
